Today our students in K–3rd grade celebrated Architecture Week with a special presentation about what architects do! Our visitors were Kent Werner (JRP Architects), and Rebecca Ruppert (Burns & McDonnell), both on the Board of Directors of AIA West Jersey.
Students asked a myriad of interesting questions ranging from "Do you have to measure perimeters when your are designing something?" to "Did you build the Eifell Tower?!" Our guests gave informative and bemused answers.
With their buddies, earlier this week, students participated in a LEGO design challenge.
Today, they had their creations reviewed by our visiting local architects and enjoyed an architecture-themed activity book, which they then gifted to Westfield - Iggy Peck Architect by Andrea Beaty and illustrator David Roberts, about the power of teamwork.
Each child also received an activity book to continue the fun at home.
