Teacher Margaret's "View From My Window" - May 7th

Dear Friends,

Educators talk about the 100 days of May! Thank you to the wise people who put Teacher Appreciation Week at the start of this month.

We are busy with culminating projects. The 3rd grade is deep into their photojournalism project, examining how the school’s mission shows up in their daily school experience. Eighth-grade students are putting the finishing touches on their Shark Tank Young Entrepreneurs project. They are just as busy writing their speeches for graduation. Kindergarten and First Grade will dazzle us with their musical Goin' Buggy. Preschool 3 children are beginning an extended exploration of seeds. Among other activities, they are using beans (seeds) to create letters of the alphabet. As a class, they have agreed to seek answers to questions like, “Why do seeds need soil?“ and “How do seeds grow into purple flowers?” In Fourth Grade, students are considering their body systems- soon we will have creative representations of their learning.  Preschool 2 children are carrying their transportation study into their math readiness work by counting trucks, cars, and bikes. In PreK, all twelve chicks have hatched and are doing well. Our cup runneth over!

Thank you to everyone who came out and bowled for our Friends and Frames event. I wish I could have been with you. I am grateful for all of the parents and grandparents who worshipped with us on May 6th. What a wonderful way to take time out from our busy week and give thanks for the children in whom we delight. 

I hope to see you at Field Day on the 22nd. Maybe you will even bring your running shoes and participate in the parent and alumni dash! While you are here for Field Day, be sure to walk through the Main Building and enjoy the art exhibit currently showcasing the year’s worth of work by students from Prek-8th Grade.
