Why I’m Passionate About Quaker Education
The family-like community inspired by Quaker educational sets Friends schools apart from all others. At least once a week our grade levels are integrated to collaborate on learning projects. In addition to all students learning to work as a team, the older students develop strong leadership qualities and hone their abilities to listen with intent and respect to the youngest of our school. Our younger students develop a strong sense of belonging to our community, and most importantly, strive to model their skills and behavior after those of their older role models. These "buddy" activities help create trust, respect, and a true understanding of the concept of equality. I am excited to be part of a team of educators who model and value respect for the individuality of each and every child at the school.
This Year in My Class
I will gently guide my students as they acquire skills that aid in communication, sharing, and meaningful interactions with their classmates. I will strive to develop, to the fullest extent each individual child is able, the physical, emotional, and academic growth of my students as I support the overall mission of the First Friends Preschool program.
