Teacher Margaret's "View From My Window" - October 14th

October is a busy month at Westfield Friends School. I hope you will take a moment to look at the calendar.

This Saturday morning we have our first BYOC Playdate - this one for our Preschool families.

Sunday, Westfield Friends, Haddonfield Friends, and Friends School Mullica Hill are hosting a High School Fair. Twenty schools will have admissions representatives at the fair to answer questions and introduce families to their school.

On Tuesday we have our second Parents and Guardians Council Meeting. Along with other business, Jessica Fielding will give a brief presentation about the school’s music program.

This Wednesday our 8th grade students will attend the NJAIS Middle School Diversity Equity and Inclusion virtual conference. This virtual conference aligns with the school’s theme of seeking to create a society with equity and justice for all. At this conference last year, 8th grade students created an action plan to bring back to their peers at WFS. I am looking forward to what the 8th grade students learn and want to act upon.

Saturday, October 23rd we will have our second BYOC Playdate for grades PK-5.

Our first Quaker Friday will be October 29th. In the Preschool the teachers are planning special activities. In the Main Building, we will have our traditional Halloween guessing for grades Prek-8 in the morning. The day will include pumpkin decorating in mixed age groups and special treats throughout the day.

Parents and Guardians Council is hosting a fun family event for everyone - Halloween BOOOOOOth Bash - on Saturday, October 30th.

6th Grade students are exploring what their microscopes can do. They are learning about all of the parts and adding their observations to their lab journals.
