Reading AND Raising Funds!

Read for the House
March 3, 2022 UPDATE from Teacher Paige:

WOW Westfield Readers!!

Our month of reading has come to an end and not only did our students strengthen their reading skills, but they have also have raised money to benefit children and families that utilize the Ronald McDonald House services and support efforts. I am so proud of our readers! Westfield's original fundraising goal was $2,500 but because of the generosity of your family and friends we have so far raised $10,650 dollars for the children and families of Ronald McDonald House!! Woo Hoo!!

Special shoutout to our very own Kindergartner who is currently the top fundraiser of the entire Ronald McDonald House - Philadelphia Region Read For the House Program! Way to go!

Students have until the end of the day on Friday, March 11 to continue collecting donations and have them count towards their fundraising total for prizes. Remember, readers can reach out to their sponsors and collect their donations through their online fundraising page. If you receive any cash or check donations by next Friday, please let me know and Ronald McDonald house send a volunteer to the school to pick up the donations.

I am so proud of our readers!

January 27th post:

This year Westfield will be participating in The Read for the House Program through Ronald McDonald House. Read for the House is a service-learning project for children of any age that raises funds to support Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Philadelphia Region by reading! In addition to helping the families of Ronald McDonald House, the program promotes the value of community service and encourages reading.

Here is the timeline for the program!

January:

Watch this online video to learn about the program, create your personal fundraising page, and ask sponsors to pledge any amount of money for each minute your student reads during February.
