Teacher Margaret's "View From My Window" - April 21st

Today I had the privilege of talking with ten Westfield alums who currently attend Moorestown Friends high school. When I asked them about teachers who had helped them grow the most or been most influential in who they were now, ten different alums named twelve different teachers as people who had challenged them to strive for their best work and take risks.  They agreed that their Westfield teachers encouraged them to ask questions and assured them that mistakes are great because that is how we learn. They talked about their comfort asking questions and learning from mistakes as if they were muscles they had begun to develop at Westfield. As for their abilities as readers, writers, mathematicians, and artists they felt they had the core knowledge and skills they needed and that their transition to high school had been relatively seamless in comparison to others in their freshman classes.

We finished last week with three egg hunts, each was a bit different. The oldest children hunted eggs to exchange for items to create baskets for Ronald McDonald House.

Looking ahead to next year, interest by new families is high. We are ahead of where we were this time last year in inquiries, completed applications, and newly enrolled students. The Kindergarten, Preschool, and 7th grades are full or near capacity. All grades have healthy rosters. Thank you for everything you do to share with your friends, family, and colleagues what you love about Westfield Friends School. You are our best advocates for our school and our children.

Warmly,

Margaret
