Teacher Margaret's "View From My Window" - March 23rd

3 WINDOWS

Dear Friends,

I have been reading through all of the progress reports this week. So much learning has happened this past winter. Every student has made progress in deep and wonderful ways. Math facts are being mastered and ways of approaching complex story problems have been explored. At every level students are growing as young and confident mathematicians. Whether they are learning to read or reading to learn, we have had an impressive winter focusing on non-fiction reading. Students of all ages have pursued topics of interest and practiced the many steps of research and analysis and non-fiction writing.

Our older artists in grades 4-8 have completed an extensive unit creating amazing works of pottery. These are now on display in the the entrance hall and the library. Soon our younger artists will join Teacher Johnnie in the Pottery Studio for their own exploration of this wonderful, malleable medium for expression.

Progress reports will come home this weekend for most grades. You should expect to see a comment describing what was covered in every subject from Music, to PE, to Language Arts, to Math, to Technology, to Art, to Social Studies, to Science. Students will receive progress report grades in all subjects as well.

In Middle School, you will see individual student comments in Math, Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies.

In the elementary grades, each homeroom teacher has written individual student comments for Student as Learner, Student as Community Member, Math, Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies.

In the primary grades, homeroom teachers have written individual student comments on all topics they assess. If you have any questions about your student’s progress, please reach out to your student’s teacher.
