We had an outstanding visit today with Cinnaminson’s Mayor, Stephanie Kravil (currently serving her second term), and her wonderful assistant, Eric Schubiger, who was very helpful in arranging this special experience for our class.
The students read the thoughtful questions we created together in class and toured part of the municipal building, and most excitingly, each student had the chance to bang the mayor’s gavel! It was such a cool moment. Mayor Kravil was kind and generous; she even created little gift boxes for each student.
Following that excitement and inquiry with a “community expert,” we met another one, Chief of Police William Obuchowski, who walked us to the police station for a tour. We met officers in dispatch, spoke with detectives, explored the inside of a police vehicle, and saw an interrogation room and jail cells. Each child received a badge, along with a small treat bag containing two pieces of candy and some fun surprises!
