Moorestown Historical Society Invites You

On September 27th,  there is a one-mile Hessian Fun Run.

It is a reverse scavenger hunt. When the Hessians retreated from Philadelphia and were heading towards Monmouth, they stole food, money, and firewood from the locals in Moorestown.  They stole all the chickens at Smith Cadbury and cooked them in the parlor.

Each runner will get a backpack filled with those "stolen" items, including a rubber chicken, and they will return them to the houses that witnessed the Revolutionary War on Kings Highway.  The race finishes at Moorestown Friends School where they can reclaim their chicken.

Later in the day, on September 27th, is a Witness House Tour. It is much like the one held last year, but with some new buildings and structures.  Both Mount Laurel and Moorestown Meeting Houses will be on the tour.  Tickets for both events are on the website Moorestownhistory.org
