Bringing their experiences to life

The purpose of this assignment was to write descriptively about students' experiences at Taylor's Farm.

Our three main focuses were: attention to detail, vivid verbs and precise adjectives, and using the senses of sight, smell, sound, and touch.

Here are some excerpts:

"I saw the fluffy, aggressive goats. I heard the crunching of the lima beans in my hands. I smelled the ocean breeze and the pollution." SJ

"The leaves fell, the glass bottle ripped the trash bag. The sharp glass ripped the trash bag. The sensitive branch snapped easily. The sand was silky soft." CJ

"I heard the mud squelching when I stepped on it. I also heard the goats when they would ram their curved horns against each other. I felt the very dry tan colored lima beans. I smelled the musty scent of being on the bank of the Delaware. I also smelled the goats and their dirty smell. " Sebastian

"I felt the lima leaf badge and it was feeling like veins. I smelled the muddy ground and it stank. I tasted the fresh breeze in my mouth." Olga

"Instead of soft sand, it was unstable, loose, dark pebbles. The light waves of the water were making swishing sounds. Lots of chatting and yelling. I heard lots of footsteps crushing on the ground and rocks. Occasionally, I heard rocks being thrown into the river." Eli

"When we arrived at the beach I saw the smooth rocks glisten in the sun. As we approached the River the water looked like frothy chocolate milk. The clouds were like wispy strands of hair in the light blue sky. The air was cold and crisp like ice and breeze chilled my face." Nyla

"At the beach I saw the beautiful bay and rocks at my feet. I also saw the dark grey clams that were slimy and wet. I also felt the cold crisp breeze on my face. I heard the little kids running on the rocks: The rocks were clinking around on the cold ground. I could smell the sea salty sent from the bay. And the smell

of the pizza when it was time for lunch." Hayley
