Why I’m Passionate About Quaker Education

With over 14 years of experience working with youth, I’ve always focused on identifying and nurturing the individual strengths each child brings. I believe in fostering resilience, perseverance, and growth, especially in the face of adversity. Quaker education’s commitment to the whole child, advocacy for the vulnerable, celebration of diversity, and cultivation of each student’s inner light deeply align with my ethical beliefs. I see education as a transformative force for justice, empathy, and personal discovery.

This Year My Students Will

Students will explore scientific phenomena in a challenging, inquiry-rich environment that encourages curiosity, collaboration, and critical thinking. We’ll be embracing a growth mindset to navigate educational adversity and support each student in becoming the best version of themselves. Highlights this year include:
  • Engaging 8th-grade chemistry labs
  • 5th-6th grade Solar Car Race in the spring
  • Ongoing emotional intelligence skill building woven into daily practice
Together, we’ll build a classroom culture where questions are welcomed, mistakes are honored, and every student’s voice contributes to our shared learning journey.

Some of my favorite books that I have read this year include: Growth Mindset for Teens by Sidney Shephard, Mindset by Carol Dweck, and Permission to Feel by Marc Brackett
