Why I'm passionate about Quaker education

Quaker education values our differences and emphasizes collaborative learning.

This year in my class

This year, students will engage in a process of discovery and experimentation. They will slow down and look closely at the world around them. Young artists will begin to recognize the interconnection of all things.

We use recycled materials frequently, expanding our ideas about what art is and can be, thinking about our stewardship of the planet.

Looking at Art’ will continue to be an important part of art education. Students are introduced to art history, contemporary art, and various art practices. This study includes learning about traditional forms of art making and the lives of famous artists while introducing artists or artworks not previously celebrated from around the globe and throughout history. Additionally, the artists highlighted reflect the diversity of the Westfield Friends community - children see artists who look like themselves, their classmates, their grandparents, and others around them.
