Extended Day Program

An Extension of Our Programming as a Convenience to Our Families

Westfield Friends School’s Extended Day Program offers a safe environment for students that require before and/or after school care on either a regular or occasional basis.  Whenever a student is on our campus outside of the normal class hours, we follow best practices for monitoring their safety and security, as well as providing nurturing care.

In light of the expenses incurred in staffing, insuring, and other necessary risk management factors that must be in place to care for students who are on campus outside of class hours, parents should be aware that there is a charge for all students who are on campus in our care either before 8:15 am when the school day begins, or after 3:15 p.m. when the normal pick-up window closes. If parents chose to enroll their students in after school activities or tutoring sessions offered on our campus, they may do so, but must be aware that their child is still actively a part of our Extended Day Program and they will be billed for their child's time spent at school during after class hours.  Clubs and activities are charged separately and in addition to Extended Day charges. These charges do not apply to students participating in our Athletics Program for grades 5-8, unless they stay beyond the dismissal time set by their coaches.

The Extended Care Program is viewed as an  extension of  the school’s daily program. As such, the program does not operate when the school is not in session, including holidays, breaks, and summer vacation.

Morning Care for grades Pre-K through 8th is available in the Middle School Lounge from 7:00 a.m. until 8:15 a.m. for a flat fee of $8.  Preschool students attending Morning Care will do so in their normal classroom. For safety and security reasons, students are not permitted to wander campus or wait outside without parent or guardian supervision prior to 8:15.  All students (Pre-K through 8th grade) arriving on campus before 8:15 a.m. must enter through the 7th/8th entrance and report to the Morning Care Provider in the Middle School Lounge. It is requested that all students in Pre-K through 2rd grades be escorted into the building by a parent or guardian to report to the Morning Care Provider. Please be aware that any student entering the building before 8:15 a.m. will be placed in Morning Care.

During Morning Care, students are welcome to prepare for their day by relaxing with a book, studying, quietly socializing with friends, using technology, etc.  Your child is welcome to bring a light breakfast snack, as well. Students are dismissed to their classrooms at 8:15 and the youngest are accompanied to their classrooms by the Morning Care Provider.

The Afternoon Care program operates from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. for a fee of $9.50 per hour with a one hour minimum charge and 15 minute incremental charges thereafter. Students in Pre-K through 8th grade attending Afternoon Care report to the lunchroom at 3:00 p.m. after dismissal from class.  Preschool students are escorted to the main building for Afternoon Care in the Pre-K classroom. The Afternoon Program includes scheduled periods for snack, outdoor /indoor recreation, mandatory homework/study time, reading/story time, and technology use.  Parents /guardians must park in the parking lot and come to the KG/Pre-K entrance (Green Door of Main Building) to sign out/pick up their student from Afternoon Care.  Please bring your Car Line nametag in order to identify yourself for sign out.  Relatives, friends, or other designated adults picking up students must be registered in writing or with notification via email to the Extended Day Program staff. A late pick-up fee of $10 per child per 10 minute increment will be charged for students remaining past 6:00 p.m.

Please be aware that students not participating in an after school  activity or sport who remain on campus after the 3:15 p.m. are placed in Afternoon Care.
