Tuition Incentives

At Westfield Friends School, we are mindful of the sacrifices and prioritizations parents make to give their children the very best opportunities they can. We work hard to keep costs competitive and affordable for our families and strongly believe that money should not be a barrier to a high-quality educational experience like that provided at Westfield Friends School. To this end, in addition to implementing our Responsive Tuition program, we offer families the following:
As with all independent schools, tuition covers approximately 80% of the actual cost of educating a student with the remainder of costs being covered by other sources of revenue. The single most significant of these gap-bridging revenue sources is the The Fund for Westfield Friends School.

Westfield Friends School actively campaigns, year-round, for raising funds, and contributions are made by Westfield alumni, alumni parents, current parents, grandparents, faculty, staff, trustees, and friends of our community to benefit all Westfield families.

In an effort to support Pennsylvania families who find Westfield Friends School an attractive option for their children, we are offering a family transportation rebate. The rebate is payable in January of each enrolled year. Please note that in order to receive the transportation rebate you must have at least one child enrolled at WFS and you must be current in your tuition payments.  (For existing PA incentive arrangements (extended day, etc) the larger incentive credit will apply.)

The more quality students we have, the better off the school is from the cost of tuition to program perspective. We believe that parental word of mouth is our greatest resource for admissions. Our families understand the type of people we seek to welcome into our community and can help ensure the quality of our student body through their referrals.

To that end, if a current parent refers a student to WFS, and the student is deemed a good fit and is enrolled, that parent will receive a tuition rebate of up to $5000 spread out over four years and payable in January of each enrolled year (Year 1: $500, Year 2: $1500, Year 3: $1500, and Year 4: $1500). Please note that in order to receive the rebate the referred family must name you as their first contact with Westfield Friends School. In addition each January, you must have at least one child enrolled at WFS, the student you referred must also remain enrolled, and you must be current in your tuition payments.

A current parent who refers a prospective eighth student who is admitted and enrolled will receive a $500 tuition rebate as long as at least one of the parent's children is enrolled at WFS.

We believe it is important to ease the financial burden for families with multiple children enrolled at WFS. Families with more than one child enrolled in the same academic year will receive a 10% tuition discount for the younger enrolled sibling(s). Please note that the sibling discount is not applicable to families who participate in Responsive Tuition.

For a returning student entering the Middle School, the Responsive Tuition Range (RTR) set for sixth grade at that time will remain the RTR for that student until he or she graduates.

For a new family enrolling a child in 7th or 8th grade, your tuition will fall within the published Responsive Tuition Range (RTR) of your first year enrolled at Westfield. If enrolling in 7th grade, your RTR will not go up the following year, even if the published RTR increases.

FAQs: $5000 REFER A STUDENT TUITION REBATE

DOES WESTFIELD FRIENDS SCHOOL NEED CONFIRMATION OF A REFERRAL?

Yes. You must be identified by the referred individual on his or her application at the time of submission AND you must notify the Coordinator of Admissions & Development of the referral details via email immediately after making the referral.

HOW IS THE $5000 REBATE APPLIED?

In the first month of January that the referred student is an enrolled and current WFS student, a $500 rebate will be given to the referring family. Each January for the next three years that the referred student is enrolled and the referring family is enrolled, a $1500 rebate will be given to the referring family. The referring family must be current in their tuition payments to receive the rebate.

The rebate remains intact for the full four years as long as the referred student is enrolled for four years AND the referrer is the parent of an enrolled student for those same four years. If either the referrer or the referred leaves before the four year period is over, the discount ends. No additional rebate checks will be issued even if the referring family has not been able to take advantage of all four years of the tuition rebate.

HOW MANY REFERRALS CAN I  MAKE?

As many as you like--, there is no limit on the number of referrals you can make or how many corresponding rebates you will receive.

Can a tuition rebate be used in conjunction with the sibling discount?

Yes.

Can I Refer one of my own children?

No.

Are there any tax implications?

Yes. Referral incentives would be considered 'income' and therefore, annually, and before the rebate check is issued, the referring individual will be required to provide a W-9 to the school, certifying their social security number.  After the end of the calendar year of the rebate, the school will issue a 1099 for income reporting purposes on their tax return.
