Teacher Margaret's "View From My Window" - September 16th

September 16, 2021

nuts and bolts

Today’s View From My Window is of the nuts and bolts variety.

We have a Family Guide and FAQ page on our website. This includes information on who to contact if your child will not be in school. To report your child absent or late please email or call Cindy Choyce by 9:00 AM ([email protected] or 856-829-0895 ext.111). As a second step, send an email to your child’s teacher.

Lunches and Snacks: I had a fourth-grade student tell me that I had “the evil eye” for those tiny plastic wraps that hold the straws attached to juice and milk boxes. Since we do eat most meals outdoors, we are finding a fair amount of single-use snack bags (think individual servings or Oreos or pretzels), straw wrappers, Ziploc bags, and juice pouches. Teachers and students are trying to be careful.  I ask for your help by helping your child pack their lunches and snacks in reusable bags and containers.

Our first Parents and Guardians Council Meeting will be next week on Tuesday, September 21st. The meeting will be on ZOOM at 7:00 PM. If you haven’t filled out the RSVP form take a moment to do so now.

Tomorrow Vedra Chandler will be visiting Westfield. She is a WFS alum. She will talk with the Middle School students about her work helping to bring the New View Camden exhibit to life. She will sing for and with Prek-8th grade students in our Friday Meeting for Singing time.

Next week 6th-8th grade students will go to Camp Dark Waters on Thursday, September 23rd. This is the rescheduled date for this wonderful experience. Let’s hope the weather cooperates this time around.

The Golf Outing at Riverton Country Club is on Monday, September 20th. It is not too late to sign up for a round of golf. While they won’t golf, some teachers will join other community members and golfers for the cocktail gathering at the end of the day. You too can join us for the cocktail gathering, only. I hope I will see you there. ALSO, the event's Mobile Auction is LIVE - check out the catalog and start your bidding today! Bidding ends Monday at 6:45pm.

Our photographer David Baldwin will be back to take pictures of PreK students and Preschool students as well as a few Middle School student make-ups on Monday 9/20. He will be back on Thursday 9/23 to finish the Preschool and do any other makeup pictures.

Warmly,

Margaret
