Teacher Margaret's "View From My Window" - June 2nd

Dear Friends,

We are nearly there! I want to thank every family for your caution around all things COVID and your partnership in making this such a successful year of learning for all of our students. I want to thank my dedicated colleagues for pouring their hearts and minds into creating a learning environment where every child may bring their full self to their learning; where each child is confident that they are seen and known and respected; where every student has learned, played, and matured in extraordinary ways.

We have a few more wonderful celebrations together. Tomorrow afternoon we will gather in our Buddy Groups for a picnic and scavenger hunt. Please send your student’s normal lunch. On Wednesday we will have our final Meeting for Worship. On Thursday morning we will have a celebratory final assembly. We will sing together and enjoy musical performances by each grade. On Wednesday afternoon I will send a ZOOM link for families to join the assembly.  And then we say goodbye to our students for the summer. On Friday we celebrate with our 8th Grade Graduates and their invited guests in the Meeting House for our Graduation.

Our summer reading program and assignments are now live on the school website. Our summer reading goals are 1) to provide our community with a common experience tied to next year’s year long theme “We Seek An Earth Restored”, 2) to foster a love of reading, and 3) to help students grow as readers. On the 15ht, via email I will be sending families information on the summer math program. Our goal in math is to keep your student’s skills strong so that they may step into the new year ready to move forward. We will send home supply lists for next year with the math information. Finally, you should anticipate receiving end of year report cards between June 20th and 22nd. These will be sent electronically.

We have just 4 and one-half days of school left before we can all take a deep breath and take a much needed restorative break. I realize that many of you work through the summer even as your children shift into summer vacation mode. But I hope that you will take the time you deserve as a thank you to yourself for helping make this school year one in which everyone thrived.

In partnership,

Margaret
