WFS DEIB Statement

The artwork you see here are creations from Westfield Friends School students. They include self portraits as well as portraits of people who made significant contributions to their fields and to social justice. You can read more about the latter below.

Visual Art teachers, Deborah Moss Marris and Alicia Link ‘04, developed a “Social Justice Greeting Cards Project'' with students in 4th - 8th grades. The artwork you see above is a product of this project.

Each student spent time researching and then drawing portraits of people who made significant contributions to their fields and to social justice. Students also selected a quote to be paired with their drawing. Selected images have been printed on greeting cards and are available for purchase HERE. A pack of seven cards costs $15.

All the profits will be donated to Black Voters Matter an organization that advocates and organizes to give power back to marginalized communities.

We hope that you participate in supporting this essential cause.
