We continue to do the Fundations ABC warm-up together each morning and practice printing letters using the sky, plane, grass, and worm lines. We have been working on letters Gg, Dd, Ss, Qq, and Vv. Students practice their writing skills by writing around the room and connecting to stories we read and labeling. Sharing thoughts and ideas about stories we read helps build connections and strengthen language skills. Please enjoy looking through our class job book that the students made about what they want to be when they grow up. Freddy the Frog will visit each child's home in our Team Pre-K share bag. We are working on a song for Grandparent's Day and the link is attached below.

Science
We are continuing to watch Sticky and Spinny turn from tadpoles into frogs. Spinny has his full back and front legs and is beginning to lose his tale! We are learning about animal life cycles and what comes next. Our ladybug larvae has arrived and we will start to explore the ladybug life cycle on Monday. Chicks are arriving on May 1.

Here are a few books we read together:
"Ten Tiny Tadpoles" Debbie Tarbett
"I Don't Want to be Big" Dev Petty
"I'm a Frog" Mo Willems
"Little Dandelion Seeds the World" Julia Richardson
"Superhero ABC" by Bob McLeod
"The Quilt Story" Tony Johnston and Tomie DePaloa
"Camille and the Sunflowers" by Laurence Anholt
"A My Name is" by Alice Lyne

We have wrapped up learning telling time to the hour and our estimation jar.  Counting on is something we continue to work on. We have begun learning simple addition!  Students learned what the plus sign and equals sign mean. We have been using counters to add things together. Once students grasp this concept, we will be learning how to use a number line to add.

We have revisited the artist Vincent Van Gogh. Students have enjoyed looking at different versions of his sunflower pieces and creating their own "Sunflower" art.  Our final artist is going to be Claude Monet. You can see the beautiful artwork displayed on May 24th at the Pre-K art show!
